A new community resource could be a gamechanger in the way our community collectively monitors, measures, and evaluates wellbeing outcomes for local families and children in the Gladstone Region.
Released this week, the Gladstone Region Wellbeing Data Hub is a community built and owned data resource that will help monitor and measure change towards improved wellbeing in our local communities.
Supported by Here for Gladstone, the social investment fund for Rio Tinto Yarwun, Boyne Smelters Limited, and Queensland Alumina Limited, the Data Hub will enable community to view government and locally supplied data on topics of high significance for our community.
Data Hub inclusions are facilitated by Gladstone Region engaging in action Together (GRT) in response to community requests. “The Data Hub helps identify where the community needs to collectively focus efforts” said GRT Leadership Group Member, Allison Shoesmith. “It provides the Gladstone community with centralised access to data to identify and quantify changes and impacts on the community and to monitor and evaluate progress towards a range of community identified wellbeing goals.”
GRT is a community-led, place-based initiative, funded by the Australian and Queensland Government, to support and enable improved community wellbeing in the Gladstone Region. The community vision that guides the initiative is opportunity, equity, and quality of life for everyone.
Inclusions in the Data Hub reflect community identified priorities to achieve this vision and current impacts and opportunities relevant to the Gladstone Region. In addition to changes in local demographics, current data themes include housing, employment, and education.
Inclusions in the Data Hub will make it easier to design and refine community supports in response to changing community need and to measure collective progress and outcomes towards improved wellbeing.
GRT is seeking feedback and data requests from community within the Gladstone Region to build the Data Hub.
“The Data Hub is designed by community for community. The whole community can access and utilise the Gladstone Region Wellbeing Data Hub and feedback will help shape the content to be relevant to local data needs and enable increased outcomes for families and children in the region,” said Ms Shoesmith.
A recent co-design session for the Data Hub was attended by local community organisations with participants commenting that the Data Hub will help services share information, identify community needs and gaps, support evidence-based practice, and help focus programs to achieve best outcomes.
